Do I need to Speak Chinese?
No: Knowledge of Chinese is not required. You will work as an oral English teacher and your goal will be to communicate with students in English. We want our teachers to use English as much as possible during their lesson to give students as much language exposure as possible.
Daily Life: Most public places in Tianjin people will generally understand you if you speak English and most day to day activities simple Chinese or English will be adequate to convey the meaning.

Do I need a Teaching Degree?
No: We do not require you to have a degree in teaching. However, we do require that you have a bachelor degree and TEFL/TESL certificate. It is highly recommended to have a TEFL/TESL certificate if you are a recent graduate (18 months to 24 months) to improve your chances of being hired.

Where will I live?
That Depends: If you choose to find your own accommodations then it is totally up to you, but International Education will provide assistance in locating an apartment that fits your needs. When searching for an apartment we typically search for an apartment that is close to your work, convenient to public transportation, and good for your budget. Apartments come furnished with a TV, beds, furniture, fridge, stove, and a washing machine.

What kind of training will I receive?
You will receive a teacher training orientation: During training you will discuss lesson planning, creating a syllabus, teaching goals long and short term, advice on working with various students, information about school materials and environment, teaching theories, expectations, and implementation of a class.

How will I be paid?
This is very important: You will be paid once per month. We pay our teachers at the end of the month for that month's work (i.e. You work in January you get paid at the end of January). There are two options available to be paid. First is direct deposit into your bank account. Second is by getting your salary in cash.
